Teddy Bear

Here’s a surprisingly simple art lesson from my preschooler group (4-5 years old). We started with the book If You Were a Panda Bear
by Wendell and Florence Minor. They introduce different bears with simple and funny rhymes that captivates young readers. The book ends by giving attention to the cutest and most adorable teddy bear.

The book perfectly set the mood to begin a directed drawing of the teddy bear. This lesson was also the kids’ very first real still life drawing. I happily took my 5 year old son’s advice on using his best teddy bear for the lesson. And we just couldn’t resist adding little red hearts to our bears, being so close to Valentine’s Day.
